We think that in order to thrive and flourish as human beings, we have to be free to do whatever we want and to express whatever lies within us. We think, therefore, of freedom as the absence of all restrictions. But what if true freedom is submitting to the right kinds of restrictions? It is only by submitting ourselves to one another in love, that we discover who we really are. Jesus is the only one in whose service we find perfect freedom.
