Helen was born in the Washington, DC area, and as the child of a Naval officer, grew up on both coasts. Helen’s lifelong career of working with young people began as an elementary school teacher and volunteer with YoungLife in Richmond, VA. After several years of teaching, she became the children’s director at Trinity Pres in Charlottesville, VA, where she was mentored by Ed Clowney and Skip Ryan. She filled the same role in Texas at Park Cities Pres in Dallas and then helped plant Christ the King in Houston. After five years on the North Shore of Chicago at Grace Presbyterian Church, she returned to Texas before her retirement to Williamsburg, VA. Now Helen is a volunteer teacher in children’s church and in an after-school Good News Club. Her vision for children’s ministries remains "to bring the heart of the Gospel to the heart of the child."
